The Recession Generation, the Racial Wealth Gap and Restoring American Prosperity

The Color of Wealth Policy Summit takes place here in DC tomorrow and Thursday. The Insight Center is the lead sponsor of the summit, and we are sponsoring along with friends from CFED, the NAACP and a number of other organizations.

The theme of this year’s gathering is “The Recession Generation, the Racial Wealth Gap and Restoring American Prosperity.” It’s remarkable to me that there’s so much focus in Washington on efforts to tackle the long-term deficit and very little being said about the impacts of the current recession (still troubling) and how these troubles are going to have long-term negative impacts on human capital, well-being and our nation’s long-term success. Maybe this summit will gather some attention to that end.
