Elizabeth Warren for Senate?

That’s the buzz circulating around the President’s selection of Richard Cordray to head the CFPB. Ezra Klein says that her possible Senate candidacy is a good reason to nominate someone else. The Atlantic has a rundown of other folks making variations on the same argument.

Fortunately, we had the opportunity to ask Professor Warren directly about this back in March of 2010 when she appeared at New America.

Her answer to a possible Senate campaign: “Yes, that or I could stab myself in the eye.” See for yourself.

In full context, she gives a really involved non-denial denial. So there’s a loophole there, and there’s mounting speculation that she’s going to stab herself in the eye.
