“The Difference Between Living in Your House and Sleeping in Your Car”
At this week’s “Can America Save Itself?” event, attendees were able to hear four distinct policy proposals that would work to increase the amount and rate of savings for American families. Not necessarily barn-burning stuff for the average viewer. But here’s David John of the Heritage Foundation putting the case for emergency savings into a raw and powerful form and then proposing an elegantly simple solution, an American version of the UK’s “platform account” to build better automatic systems that encompass both retirement and emergency savings.
Here’s a synopsis of the whole event, including the other three policy proposals, and here’s a link to the whole video. Much more to come.
