Upcoming Webinar: Cradle to College: Exploring How Children’s Savings Accounts Pay Off

PolicyLink is hosting a webinar next Tuesday to investigate a variety of promising new developments from the world of children’s savings accounts. Our director, Reid Cramer, will join a great panel to explore ways that savings accounts can contribute not just to financial readiness for college, but also to better educational outcomes for low-income students, students of color, and other young people traditionally underserved by mainstream financial institutions.

The other speakers for the webinar include Jose Cisneros, Treasurer for the City and County of San Francisco, the site of the nation’s first municipal-level, universal children’s savings account program for kindergarteners. He will be joined by Dr. William Elliott, Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas and a Research Fellow with the Asset Building Program, Leigh Tivol, Director of Savings and Financial Security at CFED. Solana Rice, Senior Associate at PolicyLink will moderate. The conversation will focus on the latest research on how these accounts affect college attendance, the types of savings programs and models we’re seeing across the country, and opportunities for webinar particiapnts to support national policy advocacy efforts.
