Following President Obama’s State of the Union address, in which he reiterated his support for efforts to expand pre-K access, a group of early education experts today discussed the findings of a first-of-its-kind report on early learning challenges. Entitled Subprime Learning: Early Education in America since the Great Recession, and compiled by New America’s Early Education Initiative, the report uses indicators related to demographics, funding, student achievement and policy to examine how early education has fared in the United States since the height of the Great Recession and the beginning of the Obama Administration.
