This week’s Workweek picks include a report from the San Francisco Fed suggesting that the slowdown in growth of the working-age population means we’ll need fewer new jobs to keep the labor market steady. An article in the Atlantic finds that Americans move more than any other country, followed by Finland and Norway. The Wall Street Journal discovers that retailers got started especially early in hiring for the holiday season. And Bloomberg View shows that the US’s job recovery is fifth when compared to the big seven global economies.

Some news to celebrate—Vox found that because of rising wages and lower inflation, the earnings of full-time workers in the U.S. are at an all-time high.

The Workweek is a weekly roundup written by Indeed.com’s chief economist Jed Kolko that highlights the latest research, news, and perspectives around the labor market. In addition to working with Indeed, Jed also pulled together all the research and data for the Shift Commission.
