What Should the U.S. do About ISIS?

Here in the United States, we need to start asking the questions that would serve as a prerequisite to formulating a strategy. What are our interests in the fight against ISIS and how much, in dollars and lives, are we willing to commit to defend these interests, given what we know about the interests of others? Stability of energy markets and of allied governments, including but not limited to Israel; countering and containing terrorism; protecting human rights and international norms—are those the right interests? Are they compatible?
