Sadia Rahman

Sadia Rahman was a program associate in New America's Resilient Communities program. In that role, she helped to build resilient community wireless networks in Sandy-affected areas of the city in partnership with local businesses, civic organizations, and residents.

Before joining New America, Rahman worked in analyst roles in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. In Canada, she worked as a policy analyst for the government of Ontario, assisting with tourism policy initiatives and then with an eldercare project. Her experience includes helping to develop new regulations for the retirement homes sector, and assisting with stakeholder consultations related to those regulations.

Previously, Rahman worked at a start-up nonprofit organization called Asian University for Women (AUW), which was a U.S.-based effort to establish a new women’s university in Bangladesh.  Her work at AUW included coordinating projects with an international team of staff, volunteers, board members, consultants, and partner organizations. In the past, Rahman also worked in the corporate world, as a procurement analyst at the media conglomerate Time Warner Inc. and as a business analyst at the management consulting firm Mitchell Madison Group. At Time Warner, Rahman assisted with multi-stakeholder strategic sourcing projects. At Mitchell Madison Group, Rahman worked on several projects related to how traditional companies could use internet technology to expand the services that they offer to consumers.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Princeton University and a master’s degree in international affairs from New School University. Her liberal arts and policy studies background includes coursework in politics, anthropology, sociology, and media studies. Rahman enjoys using her multi-sector, multi-disciplinary background to help bridge gaps between different silos of the working world so that people can work together to solve systemic problems.
