Lindsay Tyson was a Public Interest Technology Fellow at New America. She has worked as a software engineer in the private sector for over 10 years, first developing embedded software for printers at HP, then running large scale distributed systems at Google. After working alongside civic-minded people while helping to fix the HealthCare.gov website, she began to envision a new career path using tech for greater impact.
Tyson is passionate about solving human problems. She views technology as an increasingly necessary but rarely sufficient ingredient in those solutions. Her toolbox consists of an engineering background, an empathic personality, and a particular interest in reducing human suffering. She values a lifestyle of diverse pursuits, which currently includes teaching flying trapeze at the Circus Center in San Francisco.
