Kalena Thomhave joined the Family-Centered Social Policy program at New America for a six-month appointment as an Emerson National Hunger Fellow. She provided research and analysis regarding financial inclusion in public assistance programs as well as the financial inclusion of formerly incarcerated people. Previously, Thomhave researched Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) policy, coordinated an initiative to limit the impact of SNAP cuts in Pittsburgh, PA, and developed and coordinated the Bank On Baton Rouge program in Baton Rouge, LA. She holds BA degrees in political science and English from Louisiana State University.
