Jenny Muñiz is a Program Associate with the Education Policy program at New America. She is a member of the PreK-12 team, where she researches and reports on policies and practices related to English learners, culturally responsive education, immigration, and educational equity.
Most recently, Muñiz was a Millennial Public Policy Fellow, also in the Education Policy program. Before joining New America, she taught second grade in San Antonio, where she was the Lead Bilingual Teacher on her campus. Since leaving the classroom, Muñiz has served as an Urban Leaders Fellow, supporting the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) Board of Education and Oakland Promise, a cradle-to-career initiative. She was also a Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) Public Policy & Advocacy Fellow, during which time she led the Civic Engagement Messaging Project at Murmuration, a nonprofit focused on public advocacy and community building efforts. Muñiz is a graduate of Pomona College.
