Jamie Winterton

Jamie Winterton was a Future Tense fellow at New America.

She is the director of strategy with ASU's Global Security Initiative, where she specializes in creating novel solutions for multifaceted and disparate problem spaces that relate to global security.  She is especially interested in the privacy aspects of cybersecurity, empowering individuals to control their own personal data, and the borderless nature of cybersecurity. Prior to joining ASU in August 2014, Winterton worked as a staff scientist for Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Technology Center, where she developed and directed projects in electro-optical and radar processing/analysis. Winterton's work in optical characterization of materials, high-fidelity physics-based 3D modeling and simulation, and exploitation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data has been recognized for both innovation and mission utility. Winterton received her bachelor’s degree in physics from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
