Emily Schneider is the co-editor of the New America/ASU Coronavirus Daily Brief and a fellow in the Future Security program. She was previously a senior program associate for the International Security program at New America. Her research focused on the use of drones for military and civilian purposes, comparative cyber security issues, and national security law and policy. She was also the assistant editor for Foreign Policy's South Asia Channel. Outside of New America, Emily is an advisory council member for the Global Accountability Initiative and the managing editor for the International Humanitarian Law Dialogs, a publication of the American Society of International Law.
Previously, she worked at the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism, a joint research center at Syracuse University's Maxwell School and College of Law, where she built a database on Muslim state compliance with International Humanitarian law and Shari'a.
Emily has a J.D. from Syracuse University, a M.A. degree in English from the University of Rochester, and a B.A. degree in English from Pennsylvania State University.
