Courtney Schuster

Program Associate, International Security Program

Courtney Schuster was a program associate for the International Security Program at New America. Her research focused on U.S. special operations and the military's use of drones and the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. She is also an assistant editor for Foreign Policy's South Asia Channel.

Previously, Courtney worked as a criminal defense attorney in Northern Virginia and as a researcher for the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism, a joint research center at Syracuse University's Maxwell School and College of Law, where she built a database on Muslim state compliance with international humanitarian law and Shari'a law.

Courtney has a J.D. from Syracuse University and a B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska.
