Asvatha Babu

Asvatha Babu was a fellow at the Blockchain Trust Accelerator (BTA) at New America. As a BTA Fellow, Babu supported the team with strategic research and writing, organizing events, and vetting project proposals. She is interested in studying the potential solutions offered by blockchain for the developing world, particularly her home country of India. She graduated with a master's degree in international communication from the School of International Service, American University and a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Madras in India. During the course of her graduate studies, she became interested in the use of information and communication technology for development and social good and the security challenges posed by pervasive use of technology. Prior to joining the BTA, she worked as a senior research associate at the Institute on Disability and Public Policy doing research on inclusive technologies. She has interned at the Centre for Internet and Society in Bangalore, India, Atlantic Council's Cyber Statecraft Initiative, and the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation in Washington, D.C.
