Arthur MacMillan

Arthur MacMillan was a fellow in New America's International Security program. He is a Paris-based journalist for the international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP). He was one of the few Tehran-based foreign correspondents to report the Iran nuclear deal with America and other world powers, focusing on the strategy and decision-making of the Islamic republic's supreme leader and elected politicians.

MacMillan has spent the past decade editing and reporting world news, working in Asia, the Middle East, America, Africa, and Europe. His focus is Iran and the Middle East.

Born in Scotland, he graduated with a law degree from the University of Aberdeen and has a postgraduate diploma in journalism from the University of Strathclyde. He was a reporter at the Scotland on Sunday newspaper in Edinburgh before becoming a foreign correspondent in Hong Kong in 2007.

Currently based at AFP's global headquarters in Paris, MacMillan is working on a book about Iran.
