Alexis Okeowo

New America Fellow

Alexis Okeowo was a Class of 2016 & 2017 New America Fellow. She is the author of A Moonless, Starless Sky: Ordinary Women and Men Fighting Extremism in Africa, and is a staff writer at The New Yorker.  Her work has also been anthologized in "The Best American Travel Writing" (2017) and "The Best American Sports Writing" (2017). She has been awarded fellowships and grants from New America, the Alicia Patterson Foundation, the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, and the International Reporting Project. She has previously contributed to the Times MagazineBloomberg Businessweek, and the Financial Times.
