Google is now accepting 2011 Policy Fellowship applications in conjunction with the New America Foundation's Open Technology Initiative (OTI). Students from all majors and degree programs who are passionate about technology and telecommunications policy issues are encouraged to apply. The selected candidate will work closely with OTI for ten weeks during the summer of 2011.
Fellowship Focus Areas
OTI's Google fellow will focus on telecommunications-related issues by working on research related to MeasurementLab's broadband data collection and mapping project, analyzing the impacts of a national broadband buildout for universal fiber infrastructure development, working with underserved communities across the country to bridge digital divide, or researching open new spectrum for wireless innovation. The fellows' focus area may also include other open technology issues such as analyzing the pros and cons of questions around Quality of Service or assessing the social and economic impacts of open platform systems on cellular telephone markets.
Fellows can potentially be involved in more than one focus area over the summer, though please let us know if you have a specific interest or a related background.
