Peter Bergen Interviews President Obama on Fifth Anniversary of Bin Laden Raid

Press Release
April 29, 2016

New America’s Vice President and Director of the International Security and Fellows programs Peter Bergen interviews President Barack Obama about the state of the war on terror, five years after the raid that killed Osama bin Laden. The interview will premiere on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 on May 2 at 8pm ET.

Bergen interviews President Obama and other key players in the president’s national security strategy circle about fifteen years of the war on terror and details of the raid on the Al Qaeda leader’s compound.

As CNN’s national security analyst, Bergen conducted the first-ever televised interview with Osama bin Laden in 1997. He has since written or edited seven books on terrorism, including Manhunt: The Ten-Year Search for Bin Laden From 9/11 to Abbottabad—which was adapted into an Emmy-winning documentary.

At New America, Bergen leads the International Security program, which produces widely-cited research on drone strikes, homegrown extremism, and jihadist-inspired killings versus killings by right-wing extremists. He also helms New America’s Fellow Program, which brings on thinkers—journalists, producers, practitioners, and scholars—whose work enhances the public debate about the most pressing problems of our time.
