Future Tense celebrated the 2014 World Cup, complete with a demo of actual robots playing soccer, followed by the opening game on the big screen. 

Daniel D. Lee, director of the GRASP (General Robotics Automation, Sensing, Perception) Lab and Josh Levin, executive editor of Slate and host of "Hang Up and Listen," Slate's weekly sports podcast, discussed the future of robots and sports and showed off the robots' ball skills. The demo was followed by a viewing party of the opening 2014 World Cup game, Brazil v. Croatia.
