Emily Hong

Policy Program Associate, Open Technology Institute

Emily Hong was a policy program associate at New America's Open Technology Institute. She researches and writes in a number of technology and Internet policy areas. Before joining New America, Emily was a Fulbright Scholar in South Korea, where she conducted fieldwork on the social and economic impacts of the sharing economy in Seoul, and covered Korean efforts to seed a startup ecosystem.

Emily graduated from Yale University with a BA in Environmental Studies, and wrote her undergraduate thesis on how race and the built environment contribute to the digital divide. Emily previously worked with the Berkman Center for Internet and Society and the Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation in San Francisco.
