Six months ago, I reported on one thing the government could do to fix the FAFSA. Rachel Fishman, who studies education policy at New America, explained it this way: "There's a new IRS data-retrieval tool where parents and students can log onto the IRS through FAFSA, and it will pre-populate much of the form."
