On January 1, we transitioned from an election year to a governing year. If you think the stakes were high last year, buckle up. Now is not the time to look away.

 Who has the power in Washington? Does the scandal or the tweet of the day dominate coverage? That will be determined in the coming weeks and months by your attention.

 Especially during the confirmation hearings ahead, your attention could empower the lawmakers to ask better questions, encourage the nominees to give better answers, and incentivize the news media to give their Capitol Hill reporters more time and resources to cover these important events.
