Upcoming Webinar: Finding Solutions to Address the Racial Wealth Gap through the Federal Budget
Blog Post
Dec. 9, 2013
This Wednesday, the Center for Global Policy Solutions will host a webinar with the purpose of exploring how federal asset-building programs affect communities of color. The federal budget includes several asset-building provisions that are intended to help citizens build savings and develop wealth, but whose impact on communities of color is limited. The participants, including James Carr, Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, and our own Justin King, Policy Director of the Asset Building Program, will discuss the failings of current policy to address the racial wealth gap and offer ways to make the federal government’s asset-building programs more effective at serving communities of color. Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN), who has made tax fairness a key part of his agenda and serves as a member on the House Financial Services Committee, will serve as the webinar’s keynote speaker.
