The Asset Building Program's Alejandra Lopez-Fernandini has quite the coup today, she's featured in an opinion piece on CNN.com.

Alejandra's points are well taken, and I think very timely given the number of pieces we've seen that disparage personal efforts at saving money. She makes a strong case for the automation of savings the development of unrestricted savings (ie not just savings for retirement, but savings for emergencies etc...) and even gets in a plug for universal savings accounts at birth.

It is good to see some commentary that recognizes savings as an effort by families to make responsible choices, and not as a dastardly plot to destroy the economy.
