Mitigating the Impacts of the Current Foreclosure Crisis

We've recently detailed the continuing problems posed by the mortgage mess and Reid has been highlighting some potential solutions (lease-purchase and Automatic Mediation for example,) and tomorrow we're hosting an event from 9 am to 12 pm on those ideas and more, we're calling it "Mitigating the Impacts of the Current Foreclosure Crisis."

Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) is going to be joining us and making some keynote remarks and then we've got a great group of experts to comment. We have Janis Bowdler from La Raza, Wade Henderson from the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and Will White who works for Sen. Merkley (and used to be the housing chief for Portland, OR) focusing on conditions on the ground right now. We're going to follow that discussion by airing and discussing some ideas to solve the problems in the foreclosure crisis. For that we'll have Adam Levitin from Georgetown Law, Alon Cohen, who you may remember from our December housing event, Miriam Axel-Lute from the National Housing Institute and Jim Carr from the National Community Reinvestment Coalition.
