Internet policy experts support transition of domain names to multistakeholder community

Despite concerns about ICANN's accountability, the time for the transition is now, Danielle Kehl, senior policy analyst at New America Foundation's Open Technology Institute, told the committee (pdf). She said the move is symbolic as the United States formally recognizes that the Internet, born here, is "now truly a global public trust," and that the transition plans are "proceeding reasonably well."
